What do you think the best mineral powder is?
My dermatologist recommended I use a mineral powder. Any suggestions?

Basically, your skin reacts differently to everything, and differently than other people’s skin will react.
Your skin could react to ingredients, or to consistencies (such as if one brand isn’t finely milled, or if something is too thick)
And some people have Mica allergies/irritations (mica is a major ingredient in a lot of makeup)
I would say start out with companies that offer free or inexpensive samples and that have a good selection of colours.

A lot of people like to start out with Everyday Minerals (online based) because they have a large selection of colours (unlike certain brands *cough BareMinerals cough*) and different formulations, and their samples are free + shipping (which is no more than like. 4 dollars, but that also depends on where you live)
Other brands I’ve tried (and that I haven’t been all that OOH about, or that I haven’t tried enough yet) are: Meow Cosmetics, Oceanmist Cosmetics, Blusche, Aubrey Nicole, Buff’d Cosmetics, and probably more that I can’t remember right now
There are SO many online, with different ingredients, etc and that have better reviews, but not everything works the same.
You can start out with DS versions too.
You may not like mineral makeup though, and it may not work well with your skin. Using conventional types of makeup isn’t worse than mineral makeup. It just depends on what ingredients are in the product and waht your skin reacts badly to.

Mineral Makeup: Naked Minerals Cosmetics
Mineral cosmetics come from inert ingredients that are found in nature, then they are made into a fine powder. These minerals are harmless because they are not chemically reactive, which is why they are called inert. They also benefit the skin since they are all natural. They are referred to as naked minerals because they are nearly invisible on the skin and because of their natural composition.
There are many benefits of using mineral cosmetics. They are non-comedogenic and hence, are ideally suited for sensitive skin types. Since the mineral makeup powder is extremely fine, they do not clog the skin pores, and hence they keep the skin clean and allow it to breathe. Bacterial growth does not occur because the minerals are inert and inorganic. This is very beneficial for the skin and helps to prevent many skin conditions.
The texture of mineral makeup is lighter and finer than that of traditional cosmetics. It creates a layer of microscopic flat crystals, which functions like a filter, on the skin. This thin layer gives the skin a natural look that is sheer and translucent – a look often referred to as “naked minerals.” Smearing is not a problem with so thin a layer of makeup, so your appearance stays fresh longer.
These cosmetics do not contain harmful chemical preservatives like dyes or parabens which can cause allergic reaction, because the inert and natural composition of these products means that they don’t need preservatives in order to increase their shelf life. The products have a high SPF, because of the main ingredients titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, which act as effective sunscreen agents, providing extra protection against skin cancer. These cosmetics also contain Mica, which will make your skin look softer and smoother by covering up fine lines and wrinkles with a sheer makeup effect.
The anti-inflammatory nature of the zinc oxide makes these an excellent choice for those who have a skin condition, since the makeup helps with healing. Also, the skin can be made younger and healthier by the natural ingredients in the makeup such as clay.
Styling gurus love naked minerals used in cosmetics. Dermatologists also recommend cosmetics with naked minerals because they are made with natural ingredients. For this reason, mineral powder makeup is better than regular cosmetics, which contain many harsh chemical compounds.
